Ringstead Bay
Where to sail - Portland

Ringstead Bay, near Weymouth - The Hidden Wave Spot !

Wave sailors will find plenty to amuse themselves in Ringstead Bay. South westerly winds produce the best conditions with the possibility of good clean breaking waves near the beach.

RINGSTEAD

How to get there - Ringstead Bay is about 4 miles to the east of Weymouth just off the A353. There is a sharp turn off the main road - simply follow the lane until the top of the ridge where you will see a sign on the right for the Bay.
Ringstead itself is reached by a mile long bumpy toll road which stops about 200 metres from the beach.

Windurfing at Ringstead Bay

If you are arriving from the north or east along the A353 you will drop down towards the coast through Preston and then into Overcombe. Just before the sea wall turn left off the main road and then right into the car park.

Parking is free in the winter and up to £2 in the Summer.

Sailing Conditions - The beach faces south east so the best wind directions are from the west or the south west - (cross shore from the right). There is a reef just off the beach so sail with caution or get some local advice when you are sailing for the first time.

It pays to explore a bit to make the most of the condition in order to get good cross shore jumping waves. Just keep an eye on what the tide and currents are doing.
