BCU LEVEL 3 SEA INSTRUCTORS WANTED FOR 2007 SUMMER SEASON

Would you like to join our growing force of BCU level 3 sea kayak instructors to act as guides along the beautiful Dorset Jurassic coast?

Excellent rates of pay- possibly the best in the industry -earnings as high as £200 per day.

Intro to Sit-on Top Kayaking – Half-Day Course (3hrs)

Course Aim: to introduce new sit-on-top kayakers to the basic skills required to use their kayak safely

A half-day course covering the following topics:

Theory

  • Basic safety Equipment & Considerations
  • Weather
  • Tides
  • Equipment

Practical

  • Forwards/backwards paddling & stopping
  • Turning/steering the kayak
  • Staying upright
  • Dealing with a capsize
  • Helping other capsized sit-on-top kayaks

Cost: £40 PER PERSON - *OWN EQUIPMENT MAX 6

Intro to Rock-Hopping – Half day Course (4 hrs)

Aim: to introduce paddlers with some experience to the exciting world of safe rock-hopping

A half-day course covering the following:

Theory:

  • Choosing the right location, inc. tides, winds & weather
  • Appropriate safety equipment & arrangements

Practical:

  • On the water practical session looking at
  • safe gap selection,
  • safely running gaps,
  • appropriate skills & techniques
  • group rock-hopping
  • appropriate rescue techniques

£40 PER PERSON - MAX 8 PERSONS

Intro to Sit-On-Top Kayak Surfing (3hrs)

Aim: to introduce paddlers with some experience to the exciting world of surfing sit-on-tops

A half-day course covering the following:

Theory:

  • Choosing the right location
  • Surf safety & awareness
  • Rules of the road
  • Appropriate equipment

Practical:

  • Basic surfing skills inc. catching a wave, staying in control, controlling direction, controlling a side-surf
  • Basic rescue techniques inc. self-rescue and rescuing others.

£40 PER PERSON *OWN EQUIPMENT MAX 6 PERSONS

*hire of equipment possible ie kayak/wetsuit/buoyancy aid £20
